1st Impression:
Michael Bay's Transformers film franchise while filled to the brim with effects and explosions at times lacked much investment in fleshing out certain characters minus some main Autobots and the occasional Decepticon. The interesting thing out of all of those films was the rise of Bumblebee from background character in the series to full-fledged fan favorite and at times Autobot leader in some of the animated series. This approach, of course, increased Bumblebee's popularity and put him on par with Optimus Prime as the hero kids wanted to have from the series.

Hasbro and Paramount announced their intent to expand the Transformers cinematic universe and the Bumblebee film is the first one in this new expanded universe. The initial teaser trailer set a tone and provided imagery that G1 fans know all too well with Bumblebee having his Volkswagen alt mode but this new trailer really showcases the G1 approach Travis Knight had in mind for this film. While I am not sure how good the film will be there is plenty of fan service to at pique my interest.
