1st Impression: The Dallas Buyers Club

If you are an 80's baby like me you will remember the widespread panic of the AIDS epidemic and how millions of people died due to FDA approved medications not being available at the time that would slow the progression of the disease. While there are a decent number of films that focus on the era when the disease was at its peak.

Dallas Buyers Club tells the story of Ron Woodruff ( Matthew McConaughey) and how his HIV-positive diagnosis lead him on a journey to track down alternative methods of treatment by both legal and illegal means. Matthew McConaughey definitely is running on all cylinders in this film and the transformation of Ron Woodruff  he undergoes to show his battle with the AIDS virus is on par with Christian Bale in the Machinist. I feel the story, cast and subject matter will lead to many people debating the advancements of AIDS treatments along with chatter of Oscar nominations for McConaughey.
