1st Impression: Need for Speed

While the concept of Need for Speed film should for all intents and purposes be instantly bad it looks like they want to go with a more dramatic and slightly heavy-handed approach which definitely makes the trailer look appealing. Aaron Paul is riding a huge wave of momentum post Breaking Bad so I really want the film to not be a total dud for his sake. I do think the series has an uphill battle since Fast & Furious owns the racing/action market and with seven sequels and an evolving plot formula it needs to work extra hard to carve a niche for itself. I am not going to dismiss the film as a festering pile of garbage since the trailer did a solid job of convincing me the story was decent. Guess we'll see what happens in March.
