4W Review: Seidio Vitreo Screen Protector

What  if I told you that a screen protector exists that's made of tempered glass which is not only fingerprint resistant but smudge proof too? You would probably think I am crazy. But Seidio actually has such a protector and they were kind enough to send us one for review and it definitely lives up to the hype.

What is it?

A tempered glass screen protector for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with a 9H hardness rating that can withstand scratches and abrasions.

What does it do?

The Vitreo screen protector offers an added layer of protection that not only keeps your device both fingerprint and smudge free while providing durable and aesthetically pleasing protection from scratches and abrasions.

What's wrong with it?

Installation, while easy, does require caution since the glass can get damaged with excessive pressure in the center of the screen protector. Some Note II owners may have issue with a $39.99 MSRP screen protector, especially with the durable screen the Note II already has.

Why do you/don't you need it?

Note II owners will want this product to give their screens an added layer of protection, especially if it shares your pockets with change or keys. Installation, while easy, does raise that red flag due to the possibility that you can damage the screen protector if you apply excessive pressure in the center while installing it.

My Take:

When I purchased my Note II, I decided to actually pass on a screen protector since the screen was durable but I hated the smudges the screen would get. The Vitreo not only had a premium feel but best of all it has been smudge free since installation. I tossed my phone in my pocket with some keys and change and the screen was flawless – even my car alarm fob rubbed up against the screen. The $39.99 price will raise some eyebrows, but when you have a $600 phone that you hope to resell to buy another toy, a screen protection is paramount. The screen protector can take a beating and still looks like it just came out of the box. The thin 0.55 mm thin protector plays nice with my case and Seidio's line of cases. The hype is justified!
