Welcome to Blade vs. Quark, a new weekly installment where Blade and I settle our differences in the virtual arena! Every Friday, the two of us will find a different fighting game, go head to head, and see who is the best. While we train for our weekly battles, we will dissect the game and find what it gets right and what it gets wrong. After our analysis, we’ll duke it out, all while talking a bit of smack in the process. So, without further ado, here is Blade vs. Quark: Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

 

Dissection

What better game to start off our newest series than UMVC3? Our favorite fighting game by far is also one of the most flawed in recent memory. While the roster is diverse, there are some notable characters missing, like Mega-Man. Also much of the roster is due to Marvel forcing Capcom to use their characters to promote outside projects (i.e. Rocket Raccoon for Guardians of the Galaxy). However, it is the most hype game I’ve ever played with a relatively small learning curve if you just want to hop online to have a good time. But the main problem comes from characters with “one touch and your dead” combos. Characters like Viewtiful Joe and Ghost Rider are just outclassed by someone playing with Zero or Vergil. But if you’re just playing with friends and not at a competitive level, UMVC3 is the game to play! With that being said, it is now time for:
