The Blaq Comic Review: Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir

Cover Art

I really liked this cover art. One of the issues I have with some comic book cover art is that it shows scenes that never actually occur in the comic or gives away too much of the story. This one does neither – it is just a cool picture of Darth Maul looking like a bad ass, and honestly, that's really all you need to sell me the book.

The art in this book is very well done. There are a number of different frames in this book that show some pretty epic battle scenes with spaceships, droids, and Jedi all on one page.

The basic story revolves around Darth Maul being captured by Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine in order to find the whereabouts of his mother, the witch Talzin. From there, the story turns into an action-packed affair between the forces Darth Maul controls and the Separatist forces. Lots of lightsaber and space battles ensue.

Be forewarned: this book's story requires a certain level of knowledge of the Star Wars expanded universe prior to reading.
