Gamefly Queue Review: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier

Tom Clancy's futuristic soldier fights as part of the Ghost Recon team.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier continues the great tradition of solid games from the Tom Clancy universe. While Ghost Recon:Future Soldier went under the radar during its release period I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable it truly was.

Right

  • Extremely enjoyable single player campaign
  • Excellent use of cover mechanics. Similar to Gears of War.
  • Gunsmith weapon customization adds a new dimension to the guns used on the battlefield. The customization options range from suppressor to magazine size.
  • Easily accessible controls.
  • Sync shot becomes a must and it is a nice option for dispatching multiple targets in silence.
  • AI squad mates that are actually useful

Wrong

  • Online pass on rentals hinders online play. Publishers should at minimum give gamers a seven-day temporary pass to enjoy the full experience.
  • Certain areas of the game looked pixellated and blocky. Character models varied from extremely detailed to PS2 level graphics.
  • X-Ray vision while impressive took away from the gameplay by making missions a bit too easy.
  • Third person Gears of War style may turn away FPS purists

WTF!

  • Forced Kinect functionality that really added nothing to weapons customization.
