Welcome to a fresh installment of R.A.G.E. Works' New Releases This Week. You guys might think that I forgot about you last week. In actuality, I could find nothing of import releasing last week. I found no games and barely any notable home video releases. The only big thing that happened last week was Spider-Man: Homecoming. Rich has a review coming for that. Now that the holiday has passed, we are back to business so let's get things started!

The only limits to the carnage are your imagination and decency, in the most brutal and savage VR face-smashing game ever produced by man.
Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age (Slick's Pick of the Week)
Final Fantasy 12 recharges its crystals on July 11.
FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE improves upon the 2006 classic FINAL FANTASY® XII, now more beautiful and easier to play than ever. With newly implemented trophies and share functions, as well as stark visual and sound improvements in true HD for the first time, players both returning and new to the game will experience a grand adventure that spans the world of Ivalice in an entirely fresh and improved way.
Now that Jesse and the gang have vanquished the Wither Storm, saved the world, and become totally super famous heroes, life has gotten a bit more…complicated. With more responsibilities and less time for adventure, old friendships have started to fade — at least until Jesse's hand gets stuck in a creepy gauntlet that belongs to an ancient underwater temple. Together with old pals and new comrades alike, Jesse embarks on a brand new journey filled with tough choices, good times, and at least one temperamental llama.

Be aware… Some mysteries are thicker than others. Only the bravest of souls will dare to find the illusive sneaky Chuck.

In “The Fox's Trail”, Sofya is hired to track down a missing Leshin with connections to the Human resistance during the occupation. Investigate how you prefer, with over 100 choice points throughout the story. Some will improve your relationship with the characters. Others will provide you critical information. And some will change the fate of the people you will come to know.

Craft Wonders Amongst the Clouds! Fantastic Contraption is a surreal building game for the PS VR. Come immerse yourself in a strange skybound archipelago and befriend Neko the photosynthesizing cat. Create intricate machines, then send them whirling, flinging, and trundling off to solve puzzles on the other side of a floating island.
Your task is simple: get the squishy purple ball to that goal off in the distance, or above you, or on the other side of that gap. Your tools are elegantly minimalist: spinning wheels and stretchable rods. But the solutions are endless, and there are no right or wrong ones. Every level is infinitely replayable – this is a VR experience you and your friends will play for hours.
Sadly, you will not find Jimbo or Ned in this game on July 11.

Mr. Shifty follows a teleportation-fueled heist to break into the world’s most secure facility. Shift through bullets, and master lightning-fast takedowns in an all new kind of action game: A speed-stealth, kung-fu brawler about a teleporting thief, combining fast top-down gameplay with the ferocity of '90s Hong Kong action cinema.
■ Use distraction, trickery, explore what’s possible when stealth and action become one!
■ Toy with enemies, laugh as they use doors to enter rooms.
■ Shift through walls, between bullets, cover huge distances and be everywhere at once.
■ One shot kills. Survive on skills.
Serial Cleaner is a story-driven, fast-paced stealth/action game, characterized by a 1970s theme and aesthetics. The protagonist cleans up murder scenes by disposing bodies, covering up blood stains and hiding murder weapons and other incriminating evidence.
Exploring, experimenting and fast paced decision making are the key words here. Getting caught and questioned would put a black mark on the protagonist’s career and the environment is often crawling with itchy-fingered police officers accompanied by nosy bystanders. The game uses Real-World Data to modify gameplay according to the time of day in player’s location.
Serial Cleaner takes a humoristic, slightly macabre approach to its subject matter, and doesn’t treat itself too seriously. Just take a look at the protagonist. He is a 30-ish man with a sharp sense of style and an iconic 70s look, complete with a mustache, large sunglasses, and tight pants.
– fully realized 1970s-inspired setting
– just take a look at that art style!
– the game uses Real-World Data to modify levels accordingly with the current time of day in the player’s whereabouts
– levels take inspiration from actual 1970s murder scenes
– humor and atmosphere inspired by Fargo series and Pulp Fiction movie
– playful approach to solving each level, which rewards exploration and experimentation

The End is Nigh
On July 12, you'll wish this game were as ‘easy' as Super Meat Boy.
The End Is Nigh is a sprawling adventure platformer where the player takes control over Ash, one of few “things” that have “survived” the “end of the world”.
Follow Ash as he flops his way through a future of pain and suffering. Feel his stress levels rise as you throw him into an endless swarm of decaying, mutant animal-like creatures and help aid his final epic quest… to simply make a friend (out of pieces of people he finds along his journey).

Classic RPG gaming hits the 3DS July 14.
After Harvey, a member of a band of outlaws known as the Watchers, is arrested while attempting to loot the chancellor's mansion, he finds himself locked up in the dungeon.
There, he strikes up a conversation with a young woman who appears to be in similar straits, but to his surprise, she tells him she is none other than the Princess of the very castle in which they are being held.
Not quite believing her tale, yet unable to leave her behind, Harvey assists her in escaping in an effort to find out if she is really not the impostor she is accused of being, or if he is just being taken for a ride…
So that does it for games this week. There were a few games that either were supposed to come out but didn't or that I just could not find enough information on. For that, I apologize. Now we move on to movies. We have a pretty action-packed week whether you stay home or go to theaters. July is definitely not done with the heat as yet!
We kick off our home releases with a series that may or may not know when it is time to quit.
The Fate of the Furious
In the eighth installment of the Fast and the Furious series, Dominic Toretto's crew are rocked to their core when they must face their most dangerous adversary yet: Dom himself (Vin Diesel), who is now working with a shadowy cyber-terrorist known only as Cipher (Charlize Theron). As DSS agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and the rest of the team attempt to fight back, they find themselves in an alliance with their old enemy, assassin Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham).
Smurfs: The Lost Village
The little blue homunculi created by Belgian cartoonist Peyo return for another adventure, this time involving a quest through the Forbidden Forest to discover a long-hidden village hinted at in a treasure map. Smurfette (voiced by Demi Lovato), Brainy (Danny Pudi), Clumsy (Jack McBrayer), and Hefty (Joe Manganiello) must evade the clutches of the evil wizard Gargamel (Rainn Wilson) as they embark on their journey to find another community of Smurfs.
The Lost City of Z
During an expedition in the Amazon in 1906, British explorer Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam) grows obsessed with finding a lost city that could be the key to understanding the origins of human civilization. Over the next two decades, he returns to the Amazon multiple times in the hope of unearthing its location.
During the Blitz of World War II, a female screenwriter (Gemma Arterton) works on a film celebrating England's resilience as a way to buoy a weary populace's spirits. Her efforts to dramatize the true story of two sisters (Lily Knight and Francesca Knight) who undertook their own maritime mission to rescue wounded soldiers are met with mixed feelings by a dismissive all-male staff.
Gate: The Complete Collection
When a mysterious gate suddenly appears in Tokyo's Ginza district and begins spewing armed warriors and flying monsters, the world is thrown into turmoil. Although the deadly attack is thrown back by Japan's Self Defense Force, there's now a new and entirely unknown land on the other side of the portal, and Japan is effectively at war with a nation on the other side.
Determined to secure peace, the JSDF must send an armed force into the Gate, but ogres, dragons and a ruthless Empire populated by elves, humans, and half-animal warriors aren't the only dangers they'll face. With the resources of two worlds at stake, the balance of power on both sides of the Gate is destabilizing, and betrayal can come at any time, from any quarter. Officer Youji Itami and the JSDF's Third Reconnaissance Team must find a way to persevere & bring peace to the two nations
And so we move on to the big screen where there will literally be more fun than a barrel of monkeys.
War for the Planet of the Apes
In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.
Jonathan Shannon (Ryan Phillippe) gives his 17-year-old daughter Clare (Joey King) an old music box that promises to grant its owner seven wishes. Skeptical at first, Clare becomes seduced by its dark powers when her life starts to radically improve with each wish. Everything seems perfect until she realizes that every wish she makes causes the people who are closest to her to die in violent and elaborate ways.
That is gonna do it for this edition of New Releases This Week. Apologies that it came out at the end of the week, but it was tougher than normal to get gaming information. As always, I will try to get this to you as early as possible. Already looking up the info for next week. See you here next time!
