Nintendo Switch Takes Top Console Honors For Second Straight Month

Nintendo's riding quite the wave of momentum with Switch as the system remains a hot seller at retailers across the country with restocks selling out as soon as they arrive. Their success continues to pile up with the NPD Group reporting that the Nintendo Switch tops gaming hardware sales for the month of April. Nintendo sold more than 280,000 Switch consoles in the US alone with the 3DS moving 68,000 units. The combined sales of both Nintendo systems count for almost half of the hardware sales in the US during April.In addition to the success of the console, Nintendo also sold more than half of million units of Mario Kart 8 with 460,000 of those sales coming from physical copies sold at the retail level.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild1-2 Switch and Snipperclips also had strong sales throughout the month.

The summer is shaping up to be just as successful for the Switch with Minecraft hitting the console in June and Splatoon 2 arriving in July.
