Smallville Series Finale News – What You Should Know

So, if you are like me, you are waiting with baited breath to see how Smallville will end. Well, we won’t have to wait that much longer – the 2-hour series finale will air on May 13, 2011. After 10 seasons, we have seen many characters come and go from Clark’s world. However, one in particular has been missed the most. Of course, I am speaking of Clark’s greatest villian, Lex Luthor (played by Michael Rosenbaum).

We last saw Lex in the Season 7 finale in 2008. Kara had sent Lex to the Fortress of Solitude after telling him that he is destined to destroy mankind. Shenanigans ensue, and Clark gets to the Fortress just as Lex (who knows Clark’s secret) causes the Fortress to be destroyed, with himself and Clark inside. Of course, one would assume he is dead, but we who know the mythos know that is not true. From then on, we have gotten small bits and pieces to show Lex is indeed alive, like the clones Tess had found, and a strange phone call.

So, after almost a year of speculation, and terrible back and forth (will he come back, will he not come back?), it has been confirmed that Michael Rosenbaum will be reprising his role as Lex in the finale! To boot, we have been promised that we will see exactly how Lex becomes THE great villain in our dear Clark’s life. Until now, they have not delved into the bigger Lex vs. Clark story. I feel we need that to close out the show. The whole series is telling how Clark becomes Superman – you must set up the rest of the story for viewers to be left satisfied. Rosenbaum’s departure to pursue other endeavors has left viewers with a missing piece. I am so glad it will be put in place. Let’s just hope they do it right.
