The Veronica Mars Movie Is FINALLY Happening!

A long time ago, we used to be friends but I haven't thought of you lately at all….

Wrong! We HAVE thought of you lately Veronica. Oh Marshmallows, we did it!! All of our tireless campaigning since our favorite show's cancellation way back in 2007, the emails, tweets, phone calls, begging – it has all paid off thanks to….OURSELVES!

That's right! With Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell holding the reigns, the dynamic duo teamed with Kickstarter to raise the $2 million buckaroos Warner Bros. asked for to make, market and distribute the film. They really didn't think the show had enough fan support to warrant a film, and boy they are eating some word-frosted snickerdoodles right now! Over 45,000 of us answered the call, including yours truly, and at a little before 9pm last night, my Twitter feed and heart exploded with the news that the Veronica Mars movie has a greenlight and will be released in 2014. Squee! (As I type, over $2,742,155.00 has been raised!)

The campaign is the largest in Kickstarter's history, and destroyed their record for the fastest project to reach $1 million in donations. That happened in a mere 5 hours, and the whole amount needed was reached in approximately 12. How's that for LoVe folks?!

But if you haven't pledged yet, please still do – any money over the $2 million will definitely be put to good use upping the production. You have until April 12th, so head on over here to pledge. There are some awesome gifts if you do – t-shirts, PDF's of the movie script, signed movie posters, DVD's and the more you give, the more you get. Unfortunately, I could't give enough to get a 15-second voicemail greeting from Kristen Bell (which would be the single greatest thing ever), but hey, every little bit helps. I just can't wait to wear my V.Mars tee proudly!

For some extra incentive, take a look at the video from the Kickstarter page, and see how many Mars subtleties you pick up? It's got Kristen Bell, Rob Thomas, Jason Dohring, Ryan Hansen and Enrico Colatoni, and it's great.

Gosh, I love this cast. Are you as excited as I am to FINALLY get the Veronica Mars ending we deserved? Ready for some smoldering and snark? Hit the comments…and always remember, if I ever die, do me a favor. Go on Oprah and tell the world I loved kittens.
