Update: There seems to have been some confusion regarding Kurt Angle replacing Enzo Amore for the MMC. Angle will not be stepping into the ring as Enzo's replacement but will instead have to find a superstar to replace him. While various outlets have indicated that Enzo has been cleared to resume in-ring competition it looks like WWE has opted to replace him in the event.
Original: WWE's next programming venture won't be a WWE Network exclusive or part of the USA Network stable of WWE programming but instead will debut on Facebook's Watch video platform. The WWE Mixed Match Challenge will consist of teams battling in a tournament for charity. The winning team will earn $100,000 for the charity of their choosing. The 12 episode series will air on Facebook watch every Tuesday beginning with the debut episode on Jan. 16th at 10 PM ET.
The series will have an interactive component as well with fans voting on certain matches as well as stipulations.
Here is a quick rundown of superstars that will be involved.
RAW: Alexa Bliss, Alicia Fox, Asuka, Bayley, Braun Strowman, *Enzo Amore, Finn Balor, Goldust, Nia Jax, Sasha Banks, and The Miz. Fans will vote for the final member of the Raw roster competing in the challenge.
*While Enzo Amore was initially announced it appears he will be replaced.
SmackDown: Becky Lynch, Bobby Roode, Carmella, Charlotte Flair, Jimmy Uso, Lana, Naomi, Natalya, Rusev, Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura will compete for the blue brand. There will also be one member of the New Day competing for SmackDown. Fans will vote for which New Day member they would like to see in the challenge.
We got our first team announcements this week for both RAW and SmackDown. The first RAW team will consist of Alexa Bliss and Braun Strowman while SmackDown will be pairing the “Glorious” Bobby Roode with Charlotte Flair.
