Toys & Tech of the Trade: Kyle Crouse / KNGI Network

Toys and technology for professionals.
Toys and technology for professionals.

I had the pleasure of meeting the subject of our latest Toys & Tech of the Trade feature through Larry Oji from OC Remix who has stopped by My Take Radio on more than one occasion. Kyle Crouse is a fellow podcaster who not only hosts the Nitro Game Injection show but also runs his own network of podcasts via the KNGI Network. Let's turn it over to Kyle and learn what are the Toys & Tech of his trade.

Who are you and what do you do?: I am Kyle “KyleJCrb” Crouse, founder and administrator of the KNGI Network of podcasts, as well as host of Nitro Game Injection and other shows.

Base of operations a/k/a home: My home office/studio in Phoenix, AZ.

Current mobile device: OnePlus One

What do you like/dislike the most about your current mobile device?: The One suits my needs without all the bloatware and useless carrier reskinning that plagues most phones these days. My only dislike is the lack of expandable SD storage, but I haven't had a problem with space yet.

Three mobile apps you can't live without: Google Voice, Deliveries Package Tracker, and gReader.

Show us your home screen:

Current Laptop or desktop: My custom-built editing/gaming rig:
Motherboard: ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0
CPU: AMD FX-6300 Socket AM3+ 3.5 GHz six-core
GPU: Sapphire Radeon Vapor-X R9270X OC 2G Boost PCIE
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16 GB DDR3 1600 MHz
Cooling: Corsair H100i closed-loop water cooler w/ 240mm radiator
Case:Corsair Carbide 500R mid-tower
PSU: Corsair Builder Series CX600

Operating System: Windows 10

Most used program/programs on your laptop/desktop: Google Chrome, Winamp, Steam, Kodi.

Show us your desktop: I don't spend a lot of time on my desktop, so it's completely barren. Here's where I spend all my time:

First place you go when you open your phone or computer: I typically pop open Facebook on my phone, and spend most of my PC time in Google Chrome.

One website you recommend to people often: If anything, it's usually OverClocked ReMix (ocremix.org) or Dwelling of Duels (dwellingofduels.net).

Favorite piece of tech besides your phone or computer:  My Behringer Xenyx 802 audio mixer. Couldn't do podcasts without it!

What's playing in the background while you work?: Video game music. Lots and lots of video game music, from all eras of gaming.

Gamer?: Of course!

What are you playing?: Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, American Truck Simulator, and Hyrule Warriors Legends.

Last gaming purchase: Dragon's Crown for the PS3

What item have you purchased recently that is less than $100 that has made your life easier or more enjoyable? A Samsung 850 EVO SSD for my old laptop. The performance increase has really breathed new life into it. My first recommendation for computer upgrades is always an SSD these days.

We've covered the tech so let's hear about some toys. Any toys or collectibles you're currently obsessing over? My enthusiasm has dropped off some recently, but my biggest obsession is still Amiibo collecting.

Favorite toy /collectible from your childhood and favorite toy/collectible you currently own? From my childhood, I always loved my big box of various Hot Wheels. I also had a sweet Red Rider wagon that's sadly long gone. Currently, my favorite collectibles are my boxed Sonic and Mega Man Amiibos, signed by the writers for the Sonic and Mega Man comics.

Who you like you like to see featured in a future column?: I'm always curious to know what any of the musicians of the OverClocked ReMix community are rockin'.

Where can people find your work and connect with you?: Follow me on Twitter @KyleJCrb, and find my podcasts and other work at https://kngi.org.

Thanks goes out to Kyle for sharing his Toys & Tech of the Trade with us. If you're interested in being featured please feel free to contact us.
