Podcasting/Vlogging/Streaming

While there is always a ton of gear we love to recommend we always get asked about our gear for the show and for our channel so we decided to share some the great gear that powers RAGE Works and some of our shows and videos. Let’s get to it!

C-920-Retail

Logitech C-920 Webcam

Price: $61.99

When people ask about our video most expect me to say that we use a super advanced camera but honestly, the bulk of our on-air stuff is handled by this underrated workhorse. If you want to start a Vlog or just need a good camera for Skype then you definitely cannot go wrong with the C-920

X1622-Retail

Behringer Xenyx X1622USB

Price: $191.00

Since 2006, we have used a few different pieces of hardware for our audio but ever since we started doing more shows we have upgraded our studio with some great mixers. We started with an Alesis and then went to Mackie but now we are rocking with Behringer. This 16 channel powerhouse has ample room for expansion and the sliders and muting per channel make this a huge asset to getting out live shows, commentary, and podcasts.

ATR-2100-Retail

Audio-Technica ATR-2100

Price: $40-$50 depending on sales

Our first mic was the ATR-2100 and it replaced a Yeti Pro which was the main on-air mic for quite some time. It is not only super versatile with both XLR and USB but also comes with built-in headphone jack for monitoring as well. You can get a super versatile mic for your rig for up to $50 which when starting out is huge.

M50-Retail

Audio Technica ATH-M50

Price: $129.99

As we started covering more events we built a great relationship with Audio-Technica and one of the first items we reviewed for them was the ATH-M50 which joined the rotation long after our review since our Shure headphones met an unfortunate end. The difference in sound was night and day and I have been kicking myself for not using them on air after our review. Lesson learned!

DR-40-Retail

Tascam DR-40

Price: $140.99

I was a hardcore Zoom recorder user for quite some time but after a buddy of mine put me on to Tascam, in particular, the DR-40 I had to add it to our kit. This powerful little recorder has saved our ass on more than one occasion when Audacity, Audition or any of our other audio apps has crapped out. It is also a capable handheld recorder with a nice array of inputs and outputs. You won’t appreciate a recorder until your PC takes a dive and you lose some audio.

Elgato-Retail

Elgato Game Capture HD

Price: $128.99

If you are looking to live stream, capture gaming footage or do let’s play videos then I have to recommend the Game Capture HD from Elgato. In addition to capturing PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii it can also capture gameplay from an Xbox One or PlayStation 4 and if you visit their website you can grab a dongle to capture gameplay from older consoles such as Dreamcast, N64, and others. We have plenty of video on the MTR YouTube channel to show it in action. While there is some lag using this unit Elgato does offer two new cards that offer a lag free experience. The first is the HD60 S and the other is the HD60 Pro which is an internal hardware solution. I’ve tested and used both and both are solid additions along Game Capture HD.

We hope you find something for the techie, streamer, podcaster or vlogger in your life. If you are looking to treat yourself then we hope this guide helps. Happy Holiday from RAGE Works! Make sure to check our gaming, MMA and wrestling gift guides.
