Slick’s Hits: The Last of Us

Naughty Dog, the creators of the Uncharted series have fans chomping at the bit, waiting for their latest creation, The Last of Us. Set in a post-apocalyptic future, we know that the story involves Joel getting Ellie out of the city to safety. We know that people are infected with a fungus that makes them act very much like what we would call zombies…but they are still alive and unable to control their actions. We know that the shit has hit the fan and Joel and Ellie have to work together to survive because there is no backup, supplies are limited and they are only going to get one chance to do things right. Today, the PlayStation YouTube channel has released a new developer’s diary showing the crafting system. Aptly titled “Death and Choices,” players must carefully decide what to do with the limited resources they have. Will I use a rag and bottle of alcohol to make a Molotov or a medkit? Should I turn this blade into a shiv and kill that infected or unlock this door with it where there may be even more items? Choices like that will be among the many features that make The Last of Us appeal to the rest of us. June 14, 2013 feels so far away.
