NECA his one of my favorite stops during Toy Fair and this year was no exception as NECA delivered a ton of amazing collectibles for horror and sci-fi properties. Fans were treated to more amazing Ninja Turtles figures as well as more Gremlins, Aliens, and Predators but the biggest news for me personally was the announcement of action figures based on the Defenders of the Earth cartoon. The series celebrates its 35th anniversary this year and NECA is helping fans celebrate with some of the best figures of Flash Gordon, Mandrake the Magician, Lothar and The Phantom to date. Joining them of course will be Ming the Merciless. Depending on the line’s success we may see Rick Gordon, L.J., KShin and Jedda Walker figures in the second wave. The show while a staple in the late 80’s only lasted 65 episodes but the animation and storytelling were solid. I look forward to seeing more from NECA and Defenders of the Earth. NECA’s TMNT offerings were vast this year with figures based on the TMNT video games, cartoons, and movies. Check out all the new TMNT figures below.
The standouts for us were figures from TMNT II: Secret of the Ooze. Fans of the film not got Raphael in disguise but also a Casey Jones movie figure which was heavily requested by fans as well. The villains from Secret of the Ooze were not left out as Super Shredder, Tokka and Rahza made their debuts at Toy Fair.
