Plot Synopsis: A film about Natasha Romanoff in her quests between the films Civil War and Infinity War.-Via IMDB

1st Impression: After months of speculation and news from past Disney and Marvel events we finally have ourselves a trailer for Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) albeit a teaser trailer. The trailer gives us a bit of backstory for Black Widow including glimpses into her time in the red room. We also get introduced right away to Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) who carried the mantle of Black Widow in the comics. The onscreen introduction of Yelena makes me wonder if she will now take up the Black Widow mantle in the MCU now that Natasha Romanoff is deceased. We also get to see Soviet super-soldier Red Guardian (David Harbour) in costume. While I feel he will be a source of comic relief I hope I am wrong as Red Guardian is not a pushover in the books.

While the film appears to have stellar fight choreography and over the top action sequences, the biggest misstep remains the Taskmaster who is one of the film’s villains. The overall Taskmaster design is a far cry from the design in the comics. While modernizing the costume is to be expected I feel that the motorcycle skull helmet takes away the iconic look fans associate with the character. We can only hope that this is not the character’s only costume in the film. Overall the trailer did enough to get my attention although we should have got a Black Widow film much, much earlier in the MCU’s history.
