Science fiction films where space is the focal point have always been hit and miss either because they are overblown spectacles like Michael Bay’s Armageddon or deep narratives like Ron Howard’s Apollo 13 that sometimes don’t connect with sci-fi fans. Alfonso Cuaron brings us something substantially different with extremely capable leads being the center focus. What makes Gravity appealing is that it uses a story line that can definitely happen to any astronaut today.The trailer does an amazing job of showcasing the suspense and horror of truly being in a place where no one can hear you scream. George Clooney has been on a roll lately and its nice to see Sandra Bullock outside of dramas and comedies for a change. Let’s hope that Clooney and Bullock can make Gravity a sci-fi classic.
