1st Impression: After the chemistry, The Rock and Jason Statham exhibited in the last Fast & Furious film I was curious to see how well these guys could carry their own film and I have to say that based on what was shown in the trailer they did a good job even though the trailer practically gives away the whole film. It combines elements of a few buddy cop films like Tango and Cash and Lethal Weapon while still embracing the over the top nonsense that is commonplace in the Fast & Furious series. The addition of Idris Elba works and should make some interesting interactions with both Statham and Johnson. Elba exhibiting the equivalent of superpowers is ridiculous but it definitely has piqued my curiosity.
These films are always great mindless entertainment and if you approach them as such none of this nonsense should annoy you too much.
Can we just get the space sequel for Fast & Furious already! At the rate we're going I see this happening eventually.
What did you guys think of the first trailer? Sound off in the comments.
