In Ouija, a group of friends must confront their most terrifying fears when they awaken the dark powers of an ancient spirit board. Stiles White directs the supernatural thriller that is produced by Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller alongside Blumhouse Productions Jason Blum, Bennett Schneir and Hasbro. Juliet Snowden and Stiles White wrote the script for Ouija, and Universal will distribute the film worldwide.

Ouija boards have always creeped me out and an incident with one in high school added to my nervousness around them. I think I’ll share that story on My Take Radio this week!
The Ouija board based horror concept would definitely make a solid film if executed properly. Alas this film like many others is part of the constant crop of PG-13 horror films hitting theaters so my expectations of it being good are low. While I understand that standards for ratings have changed I still stand by the notion that good horror movies usually have an R-rating. I will admit a few PG-13 horror films have slipped through that are decent but it is definitely a rarity.
The Ouija trailer takes full advantage of jump scares and fast cuts but is that enough?Is there a chance it won’t suck? Of course, but I’d rather go in with low expectations and have the film prove me wrong via a cable or rental viewing versus spending the $15 dollars and hating myself afterwards.
