Bald Rage: Rockstar Games Announces Grand Theft Auto V Special and Collector’s Editions

I say this in all honesty when I say forget the Xbox One, forget the PlayStation 4, hell, forget my own birthday! The day that matters right now is Tuesday, September 17, 2013, when I can get my hands on the long awaited return of the GTA series, Grand Theft Auto V! Rockstar is sparing no expense in making sure that we spare no expense and line their pockets with silver come game time. As of today, we have details on the goodies that you will get depending upon what edition of the game you purchase. That is both a good and a bad thing if you have a favorite retailer, but I will not dwell on that. Let’s get right down to business so you can go pre-order this bouncing bastard child! No matter what edition you buy, all pre-order players receive access to the above: the Atomic Blimp, which is fully controllable and I am guessing that you will be able to parachute (and hopefully shoot) from. Taking a step up from the standard $59.99 gets you:

The Grand Theft Auto V Special Edition, which includes the following:

  • Grand Theft Auto V in a collectible steelbook with exclusive artwork
  • A blueprint-style map of the San Andreas area (Los Santos and Blaine County)
  • Michael, Franklin and Trevor have (as yet) unannounced special abilities that must be charged and they will charge 25% faster
  • Stunt Plane trials which are single player aerial challenges (finally explains some of the first trailer)
  • Bonus outfits, tattoos and special deals from shopkeepers around Los Santos and Blaine County
  • In single-player mode, Ammu-Nation will offer you the following for free: Pistol .50, Bullpup shotgun and melee hammer

The above will run players $79.99 and will probably be what most people end up buying. There is one more level above this which is:

The Grand Theft Auto V Collector’s Edition, EXCLUSIVELY AVAILABLE FOR SALE FROM GAMESTOP, which includes everything from the Special edition plus:

  • The Grand Theft Auto V security deposit bag with logo key
  • A Grand Theft Auto V New Era 9FIFTY Snapback Cap
  • Custom characters for use with Grand Theft Auto V Online (yes, online play is confirmed!)
  • A garage from start that has a 1930s style Hotknife hotrod and a CarbonRS sports bike (single player). For online, players instantly get a Khamelion electric car

The Collector’s Edition is so swag-packed that it comes in a collectible box with a foil-embossed Grand Theft Auto V logo in the top. This edition will run players $149.99 and once again is available only from GameStop.
