ESA announces e3 2021 date.

E3 2020 may have been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic but the ESA already has its sights set on 2021 with the announcement that E3 will return June 15th, 2021. With all the changes and withdrawals from companies in 2020 the ESA hopes to have a new unique offering next summer and with the future release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X up in the air due to COVID-19 the event's postponement and summer 2021 return may be a blessing in disguise as it will be a better showcase for games coming to both next-gen platforms.

While E3 2020 is not happening there are still a ton of virtual events on deck to get gamers excited about the many games still releasing in 2020 and what's ahead for 2021 alongside the new Xbox and PlayStation consoles. IGN is doing a virtual Summer of Gaming event in June with plenty of major players in the industry such as 2K, Google and many more being involved. Microsoft is doing their own Xbox themed event to get the gears in motion for the debut of Xbox Series X as well.

While the both the PS5 and Xbox Series X will usher in a new era for the console gaming industry the COVID-19 pandemic has stifled a lot of the excitement for many gamers due to the various delays brought about by the virus. Let's hope that when these virtual events happen the pandemic is behind us and we can have some semblance of normalcy. Only time will tell.
