Hitman being released episodically has stirred mixed feelings from gamers. I am actually enjoying it only because of the nature of the title; it makes a bit of sense that “new contracts” appear over time. Tomorrow, Friday May 13th, will be one of those new contracts. Square Enix announced this morning that the first Elusive Target will come in an update tomorrow. No details are being given and you will have but one chance to eliminate this target. These will be the conditions for each and every elusive contract:
- An Elusive Target is a once in a lifetime experience
- They are available for a limited time only in game – this first Elusive Target will last 48 hours
- Intel on the target will be limited
- They will not appear in instinct mode, or the mini map and their locations will not be revealed to you – you’ll have to go and find them
- Plan accordingly before you engage your target
- Your target can only die once
- If you die during the mission, that’s it
- When the time runs out, they are gone for good
- If you fail, there are no second chances
No word on what any rewards (if there are any) will be for completing this mission, but I will definitely be trying this out this weekend. Several people have asked “why should I buy the game now vs. waiting for the full release on disc later this year?” As someone who does generally prefer a physical copy in hand, I would say that when a title tries to give you a “live” experience like this, getting the content episodically is worth it.
