Yakuza 0 is coming to North America and Europe in 2017; Sega is hoping for a simultaneous release. If you have been listening to the show recently, you will recall that I am a huge fan of this series. If you are unfamiliar with the Yakuza games, I will do my best to describe it. Imagine GTA with a lot fewer cars and guns. Yakuza is about beating the crap out of your foes. Kazuma Kiryu, main character of the series is the embodiment of badass and the Yakuza series covers about thirty years of his life. You can imagine how I might want to get my hands on Yakuza 0 being that it is his origin story. You can also imagine how hard I am trying to remain professional while talking about this game when it is not coming out until next year but released in Japan one week ago LAST YEAR! OK, I am back. At least we know that it is due early 2017 and that unlike December's Yakuza 5 it will get both a digital and physical release. Sad news for PS3 fans is that even though Yakuza 0 initially hit PS3 and PS4, the NA/EU localizations will be for PS4 only.
Some good news for fans is that if you have not yet downloaded Yakuza 5, it is on sale until April 5. 25% off means for the next two weeks it is only $30. Stay tuned to R.A.G.E. Works for more info on Yakuza 0 as it becomes available.
Here is the original trailer from December in case you missed the PlayStation Experience:
Yes, he did pick up a motorcycle and hit someone in the face with it.
