1st Impression: 10 Years

My initial thought was that this movie will most likely suck…..but who the hell am I trying to fool? I will TOTALLY be watching (and probably loving) it. Ever since Step Up, I have had a soft spot for Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, and was silently excited when they got married in real life. (However, their movie relationship, as evidenced in this trailer, is surely not panning out.)

The premise is simple – a bunch of people get together for a 10 year high school reunion. It doesn't seem like the cheesy school gym kind though. Who has changed, who has failed, prospered, etc. is the name of the game. The Tatums are the “main couple” focus of the movie. Their course may be short loved though, with the reappearance of C-Tate's high school love, played by Rosarion Dawson. The cast seems relatively decent – Chris Pratt, Aubrey Plaza, Apple Guy (Justin Long), Kate Mara and Anthony Mackie a/k/a Papa Doc.

I'm sure there will be a few laughs courtesy of Pratt, who always seems to be typecast as the moron, poor guy. Same goes for Justin Long. Aubrey Plaza is also bound to throw some sarcastic gems of her own. (Scott Pilgrim anyone?) The plots of these films are typical, yet us women love them…sorry, it's the uterus. Men, on the other hand, will probably not even be reading this post, and if you are, kudos to you good sirs. You will make your girlfriends happy if you see this with them. Be sure to bring tissues for the inevitable break up of the Tatums (on screen that is – they will be married forever!)

10 Years hits theatres on September 14th.
