1st Impression:
The Aquaman trailer impressed with a ton of visual effects but Shazam brings something completely different to the table. The character and approach are lighthearted and a far departure from the more dark tones seen in the last few DC films. I think that change will be a welcome sight for some fans and keeps in line with the Shazam character shown in the books and animated films.

Zachary Levi's Shazam looks a bit too cartoonish in some scenes and his muscles seem almost fake but his approach to the character reminds me a lot of Tom Hanks in Big and that is a solid model to follow that will not only resonate with older fans but kids will surely love. Mark Strong as Dr. Sivanna is solid casting and I know Strong will deliver as usual. Dwayne Johnson has been quite vocal about Black Adam not showing up in Shazam but I would not be shocked if we an after credit scene or something teasing the character since he is such an integral part of Shazam's mythos.

We'll see how it all comes together next year.
