The DC Universe and the CW’s newest DC TV addition Stargirl is coming to Blu-ray and DVD this fall. While most of the shows in the CW’s lineup exist now within the Arrowverse Stargirl stands on its own much like Black Lightning did when it debuted on the network. Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore who takes up the mantle of Stargirl and ushers in a new team of young heroes to carry on the legacy of the legendary Justice Society of America.
When I initially heard they were bringing Stargirl to the CW I figured it was going to be teen drama gift-wrapped in superhero TV but I was pleasantly surprised not only with the storytelling but the effort that was made to respect the legacy of the Justice Society and their villains.
The Blu-ray and DVD set both come on three discs and include the series first 13 episodes presented in 16×9 widescreen format with the Blu-ray including a 1080p transfer and DTS-HD 5.1 audio.
