The Walking Dead’s Greg Nicotero Joins Todd McFarlane’s Spawn
Spawn Movie Director/Producer Todd McFarlane and The Walking Dead Director Greg Nicotero
The Walking Dead's Greg Nicotero will be bringing his stellar talents to Todd McFarlane's upcoming Spawn film. The director and effects specialist will oversee Spawn's new big screen design via his company KNB EFX.
Nicotero and his KNB EFX company have worked with McFarlane in the past on the Michael Jai White led Spawn film from 1997 which will help immensely when it comes to the new film since there is familiarity with the character.
“I'm a long-time fan of Greg’s work and the projects his company, KNB have done throughout the years,” said McFarlane “Working with him once again, to re-invent the Spawn ‘look' so it will match the supernatural theme in the movie, is going to be a fun process.”
Spawn's return to the big screen will be directed by McFarlane and will mark his directorial debut. The film will be an R-rated reimagining of the iconic Image character with production duties being handled by Jason Blum and Blumhouse Productions. Blumhouse has an impressive resume with films such as Get Out, Split and The Purge franchise.
Casting for the film is progress but some major players are already involved including Jamie Foxx who will be playing Al Simmons/Spawn. Foxx will be joined by Jeremy Renner who will be playing detective Twitch.
