Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice Reaches Alpha Milestone

person, punisher

One of the more intriguing games I saw at e3 last year was Hellblade, from Ninja Theory. Now called ‘Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice,' it features a difficult journey for titular character Senua. She not only has to deal with the dangers of the world she lives in but also those she creates. Senua suffers from psychosis due to the traumatic events of her past. They haunt and guide her throughout the entire game. It is more difficult to reach your goal when you cannot tell which path is real and which is only in your head.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice - teaser 04

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice has been in development for a long time and the team makes sure they have something decent to tell before presenting new information. If you go to their website, you can see the transformation and evolution of the game goes deeper than just the title. Senua's design used to be of a more beautiful female, much like her predecessor Nariko. Now, she more accurately represents what life has done to her. You can still see a beautiful woman, but it is underneath the visible stress, trauma and violence that is her life. I cannot wait to see how the final product turns out.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is currently slated to launch on PC and PS4 sometime in 2017.
