Inconceivable! McFarlane Toys Debuts Action Figures From The Princess Bride

McFarlane Toys is bringing The Princess Bride to action figure collectors this fall. Characters from the 1987 Rob Reiner classic will be immortalized in action figure form. The first wave of 7-inch figures will include McFarlane Toys ultra articulation with up to 22 moving parts and the film's main characters, including Inigo Montoya, Princess Buttercup, Westley in his Dread Pirate Roberts garb, and Fezzik. In addition, each of the characters will include a trademark accessory from the film along with themed window packaging. Check out some stills of the figures below, as well as links to get your pre-orders in.

Mandy Patinkin's Inigo Montoya comes with his trademark sword and base and is prepared to avenge his father's death at the hands of the six-fingered man. Purchase Inigo here.

While light on accessories, Princess Buttercup is a figure I can see having a few variants given the variety of outfits she wore in the film. Princess Buttercup is sporting the dress from her kidnapping, and it seems that only the bottom of the dress is made of fabric. Purchase Princess Buttercup here.

The Dread Pirate Roberts, aka Buttercup's true love Westley, will come with his sword and base. I would have liked to have seen the goblet from his battle of wits or perhaps an alternate head without the mask. The figure, while great, could use some additional accessories. Purchase Westley here.

The late Andre, “The Giant,” will forever be remembered for this iconic role as Fezzik. Fezzik was employed by Vizzini and was never far away from his good friend Inigo. Fezzik includes the rock from his fight with the Dread Pirate Roberts as well as a peanut. It would have been great to see the cloak he wore from the storming of the castle but again, a slight misstep on the accessory front. The facial sculpt seems a bit off, but this may change when the figure finally hits shelves since the images provided are prototypes. This figure is being billed as a Megafig which is not surprising since Fezzik is a giant and should be bigger than the other figures in the line. Purchase Fezzik here.

While I applaud McFarlane Toys for showcasing the characters from the film, I feel they are a bit light on accessories when there were ample opportunities to include them. Wallace Shawn's Vizzini should have been included in the first wave, but outside of the accessory and character gripes, it is cool to see this iconic film get some love. Look for wave 1 of The Princess Bride in stores later this fall, or pre-order them via our links.
