Hasbro and Paramount Pictures announced a brand new collaboration today that combines the world of Transformers with Top Gun. The result is a brand new Autobot hero appropriately named Maverick. This collaboration is a mashup of two iconic franchises in celebration of the upcoming Top Gun sequel Top Gun: Maverick which hits theaters December 23, 2020.
Top Gun: Maverick will continue the story of Pete “Maverick” Mitchell with Tom Cruise reprising his role as “Maverick” and teaming with a new crew of Top Gun graduates including the son of his late friend “Goose” for a high stakes mission. You can check out the trailer here.
The Autobot Maverick will be based on Mitchell’s Northrop Grumman F-14 Tomcat fighter jet from the original film. The figure will stand seven inches tall in robot mode and can transform in to jet mode in 25 steps. The figure will include a miniature motorcycle accessories, two alternate hands which can hold a volleyball which is a call back to volleyball game from the original film. In terms of weapons Maverick will come with four missile accessories that be used in both robot and jet modes. Hasbro also made the packaging resemble an aircraft carrier for that additional bit of fan service. Check out a full gallery of Maverick pics below.
