George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead is considered the gold standard when it comes to zombie horror. While I love all of Romero’s work I do have a soft spot for this series and it’s connection to the original Night of the Living Dead. Return of the Living Dead used graphic visuals mixed with some inadvertently funny scenes to secure its place among my favorites. The chemistry between Thom Mathews and James Karen was quite good and had shades of Gilligan and The Skipper albeit with far more sinister circumstances surrounding their predicament. If you want a few laughs, some gratuitous nudity and some 80’s hair metal then I recommend you check this out.
