New Releases This Week: Batman Mask of the Phantom
New Releases This Week: Batman Mask of the Phantom

It is a bit ironic that (in New York) as July winds down the temperature dialed down as well. Fortunately, that is the only thing we want going down! Entertainment is heating up once again as New Releases This Week is jam-packed this installment. This week we have new games, new DLC, and even a (sorta) new handheld! We have new home releases and first time on blu-ray announcements along with a ton of movies. Without further ado, let's get this show started!

VIDEO GAMES

Fortnite

Get Fortnite Early Access on PS4, Xbox One, and PC/Mac July 25.

Fortnite is like a lighter version of games like 7 Days to Die and H1Z1. One of the biggest difference is that team play is mandatory. You collect resources, rebuild facilities or create new ones and defend your structures from oncoming hordes. Between the trailers and the many gameplay videos available, it looks like a ton of fun. My only issue is paying full price (and more) for an early access game. Game packs range from $39.99-149.99. I may check this one out when it is “finished.”

Pyre

Party up for this new RPG on July 25.

Pyre is a party-based RPG from the team that brought you Bastion and Transistor! This time, we've created a party-based RPG in which you lead a band of exiles to freedom through ancient competitions spread across a vast, mystical purgatory. Who shall return to glory, and who shall remain in exile to the end of their days? Find out in our biggest-ever single-player Campaign, or challenge a friend to a fast-paced ritual showdown in Versus Mode.
