Amazon Echo and/or Google Home
I know you hear it all the time, but making your home a smart home is a lot easier than you think – and both Amazon and Google have the hardware to make it all possible. While the Amazon Echo and its variants may have a deeper ecosystem and larger assortment of add-ons, the Google Home is slowly carving out its own niche especially if you are someone who uses Google often. The holiday season has seen good sales on both units and honestly, either one does the job. While I have Amazon Echo devices throughout my home I would have gone with either one had they been available.
Apple Airpods
I wasn’t a believer when it came to Apple’s Airpods, but I decided on a whim to pick them up and I was sold. They not only delivered solid sound but never lost their connection like some Bluetooth headphones and headsets. They just work – which is a cliche Apple thing to say, but they are definitely worth consideration this holiday season. Now if you don’t want to go the Airpod route because of the look but still want the W1 chip reliability, you can go with a pair of BeatsX which are a bit cheaper. Logitech Harmony Hub
Logitech’s Harmony remotes have been the backbone of my home theater for well over five years with it controlling my air conditioner, fan and of course, my home theater. The remote’s functionality and capabilities improve with each model as do the number of devices you can control. The latest improvement comes by way of the Harmony Hub which allows you to use your Android or iOS phone or tablet to control your home theater instead of a remote and with the addition of Amazon Alexa functionality you can control your entire home theater with just your voice. Marvel Legends Mjolnir & Star-Lord Helmet
I had the chance to see both of these premium cosplay accessories and get some hands-on time with both. In addition to having premium construction, they also have lights and sounds. Mjolnir is a 1:1 full-scale version of Thor’s iconic hammer you’ve seen on the big screen. The hammer responds to voice commands and reveals the rune of Odin when “Thor” or “worthy” are said which is a nice touch. If you’re a Marvel or Thor fan this will make an awesome addition to your collection. The Star-Lord helmet is also 1:1 full scale and includes light-up LED eyes and sounds. Optimus Prime Race Track Trailer Playset
The grownups can’t get all the cool toys this holiday season and if your little one is a Transformers: Rescue Bots fan then this Optimus Prime will be a welcome addition. It has a simplified transformation and the trailer becomes a racetrack which launches smaller Rescue Bots. The Rescue Bots can also be stored in the trailer as well. Transformers Masterpiece MP-36 Megatron
This recommendation comes from our very own Slick and is probably one of the best versions of Megatron on the market today.
