BenQ HT1070A DLP Projector
This recently reviewed DLP projector makes the cut if you’re in the market for a larger-than-life viewing experience for your living room and/or basement. The projector is capable of delivering crisp images in full 1080p whether it’s your favorite game, be it team or video. The array of connectivity options and ease of use make it worth recommending. Rest assured if you’re in the market for a television, we have some recommendations in that category as well. Sony XBR-X900E
While there are a ton of television options out there, I feel that showcasing recommendations in two pricing tiers is the easiest way to go. I’ll start off in the $1K category with Sony’s 900E series. I personally am going for the 55″ but you can pick it up in 49″, 65″, and 75″ sizes. Sony’s 900 series comes with 4K HDR resolution capable of delivering beautiful and vibrant colors. The televisions also have ample Smart TV capabilities including built-in Chromecast, voice search, and PlayStation Vue if you’re looking to cut the cord. If you have multiple consoles you’re set with 4 HDMI inputs which can cover your cable box, PS4 Pro, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch or any other combination you use. I will say that sound quality is sub-par (as is the case with most televisions) but a good home theater will add to the stellar picture you’re going to get with this set. TCL P607
Who is TCL? TCL (The Creative Life) is a company on the rise that combines solid picture and premium features in a more affordable package. Gamers will appreciate the low input lag and movie buffs will love the bright vibrant HDR picture. I will be the first to say that in the value category I usually recommend Vizio, but TCL has made me a believer in the value-priced television category. The lower price does shave off a few things of course, including having three HDMI ports versus the four offered in the Sony. You can offset that with either a home theater receiver or good 4K ready HDMI switch. If you’re looking for Smart TV functionality, the TCL holds its own thanks to built-in Roku functionality which will give you Netflix, Hulu and all the great streaming channels offered via Roku. Sony HTST5000 7.1 Soundbar & Subwoofer
If you’re pulling the trigger on a new television you’ll need some good sound and while there are good 5.1 systems from Vizio I did want to recommend a 7.1 solution for some Dolby Atmos sound. The HTST5000 from Sony offers 7.1 sound and has HDMI with HDCP 2.2 so you enjoy your 4K movies with Dolby Atmos sound. It also includes a wireless subwoofer which when getting a soundbar of any sort is key.
When it comes to connectivity you’ll be covered since the soundbar has 3 HDMI in/ 1 out ports so you can plug in your new PS4 Pro and Xbox One S/X and enjoy awesome 4K gaming with some kick-ass sound. The price tag might be a bit on the high side but 800 watts in a compact package with minimal wires and Dolby Atmos is well worth it especially as more 4K movies and enhanced games come to the market. Will it exceed a dedicated 7.1 system? It will not but it will give you something close for small to medium room Price: $1299 [symple_button url=”http://bit.ly/htst5000″ color=”blue” size=”default” border_radius=”3px” target=”self” rel=”” icon_left=”” icon_right=””]Buy[/symple_button]
JanSport Sentinel Laptop Backpack
I was not going to recommend any bags but after using this backpack during my recent Las Vegas trip I had to share the awesomeness with all of you. I picked this backpack up at my local Microcenter for $40. This backpack is a workhorse capable of carry your 15″ laptop and any other tech you use on a daily basis. It has a ton of pockets including a padded pocket for your headphones as well as a dedicated tablet pocket that can hold a 10″ tablet. I picked up a camera insert and tossed it in there for the trip as well and still had room for my Nintendo Switch, pro controller and much more. Amazon has this backpack for $49.99 but if you have a Microcenter in your area I recommend you check there if possible. I will be doing a video on this backpack on the channel in the near future as well.
